VERSE 1:
I'm
look-
ing
through you,
where did you
go,
I
thought
I
knew you
, what did I
know.
You don't look
differ-ent, but
you
have
changed,
I'm
look-
ing
through you,
you're not the
same.
INSTRUMENTAL REFRAIN 1:(Keyboards over)
VERSE 2:
Your
lips
are
moving,
I cannot
hear,
Your
voice
is
soothing,
but the words aren't
clear.
You don't sound
differ-ent, I've
learned
the
game,
I'm
look-
ing
through you,
you're not the
same.
INSTRUMENTAL REFRAIN 2: (Keyboards over)
BRIDGE 1:
Why, tell me why, did you not
treat me right,
Love has a nasty habit of
disappearing
overnight.
VERSE 3:
You're
think-
ing
of me,
the same old
way,
You
were
a -
bove me
, but not to-
day.
The only
differ-ence is
you're
down
there,
I'm l
ook-
ing
through you,
and you're no-
where.
INSTRUMENTAL REFRAIN 3: (Keyboards over)
BRIDGE 2:
Why, tell me why, did you not
treat me right,
Love has a nasty habit of
disappearing
overnight.
VERSE 4:
I'm
look-
ing
through you,
where did you
go,
I t
hought
I
knew you
, what did I
know.
You don't look diff
er-ent, but
you
have
changed,
I'm l
ook-
ing
through you,
you're not the
same.
CODA: (Keyboards over)
Yeah, Oh, ba-
by, you've
chang-
ed,
Aah,
I'm looking
through
you.
Yeah,
I'm looking
through
you,(Fade)
You've chang-
ed, You'
ve chang-
ed, You'
ve chang-
ed.(Fade out)
[End]
Notes.
1. Sadly, this song was written about Jane Asher, McCartney's girlfriend for five
years,"You don't look different, but you have changed," the lyrics declare,
reflecting his dissatisfaction with their relationship.
2. This transcription adds some small but rich tonal corrections to the chords and
omissions from it's predecessors. The repeating G - C riffs are actually G -
Cadd9. These are more easily fingered chords and are consistent with John
Lennon's 5 string banjo-chord inspired style. Cf. http://voices.yahoo.com/
